Immersion Tank Testing System

Immersion Tank Testing System

The immersion tank testing system for ultrasonic inspection developed by Evident is an automatic scanning system that analyzes and evaluates the volume of the inspected part and the weld joint with high accuracy and speed. Customizable analysis software generates an image of the acquired data, automatically calculates and evaluates the defect area, processes 3D imaging, displays defect distribution, and assigns a pass/fail grade.

The immersion tank testing/manual inspection system features both phased array and conventional UT testing, improving the performance rate.

Inspection is not limited to the immersion tank with this system because the phased array flaw detector can be removed and it is portable, which gives you the flexibility to inspect very large sized objects and materials of various shapes. You can also use it with a variety of scanners, probes, and software. You can also choose between conventional UT and phased array according to your situation. Because of the versatility offered by this one system, it can improve operating rates and performance, and it is cost effective.

Depending on your needs, Evident recommends which UT flaw detection hardware features and software customization to select from the broad range of choices available, such as one-button operation. Phased array instruments can scan a 200 x 200 mm area, at 0.5 mm resolution and 50 mm/s inspection rate, in less than 1 minute with one line wide scan. Conventional UT instruments would take approximately 25 minutes to inspect the same area.

Products Used for This Application

OmniScan SX

The single group, lightweight OmniScan SX flaw detector features an easy-to-read 8.4-inch (21.3 cm) touch screen and provides cost-effective solutions. The OmniScan SX comes in two models: the SX PA and SX UT. The SX PA is a 16:64PR unit, which, like the UT-only SX UT, is equipped with a conventional UT channel for P/E, P-C, or TOFD inspections.

OmniScan MX ECA/ECT

Performs eddy current array testing inspections. The test configuration supports 32 sensor coils (up to 64 with an external multiplexer) working in bridge or transmit-receive mode. The operating frequency ranges from 20 Hz to 6 MHz with the option of using multiple frequencies in the same acquisition.
