The NORTEC 700’s LEMO connector also supports POWERLINK™ NORTEC probe technology (for bolt-hole and conductivity inspections only), which features automatic probe recognition and instrument presets for quicker setups.

Exceptional Visual Clarity Keeps Inspections Moving

The NORTEC 700 delivers exceptional visual clarity that helps you interpret results faster and with more confidence. Its high-brightness, high-resolution 7-inch display remains sharp and readable even in direct sunlight, ensuring consistent visibility whether indoors or on the tarmac. Enhanced color mapping and real-time imaging bring subsurface defects and surface cracks into sharp focus, delivering instantly recognizable patterns.

Every viewing element—from a responsive interface to refined contrast and brightness—was engineered to improve interpretation accuracy, reduce eye strain, and keep inspections simple and efficient.

Fast Layout Selection

With the NORTEC 700, it is easy to change the layout view using the Next Layout direct-access key. Layouts are user-selectable, enabling you to configure the display to best suit your inspection needs. Choose from a variety of displays:

  • Single impedance plane
  • Dual impedance plane
  • Sweep (strip chart)
  • One-to-one view
  • C-scan
  • C-scan waterfall
  • Split screen (sweep + impedance)
  • All-in-one display featuring up to three configurable traces

Seamless Eddy Current Integration

The NORTEC 700 merges seamlessly into any integrated eddy current detection system, ensuring consistent flaw detection in even the most demanding environments.

Standard impedance plane view, sweep mode (strip chart), C-scan, split screens, adjustable null point, crosshairs, improved filter response, reference signal display, and other useful features are all part of the NORTEC 700 package.

Simplified Reporting that Ensures Accuracy

The NORTEC 700 simplifies the entire reporting process with fast, reliable tools that document inspection results directly from the detector—no extra hardware, software, or complex data handling required.

You can capture and save inspection snapshots, setup parameters, and signal data, ensuring that every result is recorded accurately and ready for review.

Application-Based Intelligent Presets

The NORTEC 700 turns complex inspection setup into a guided, intuitive process. Each preset automatically configures key parameters for selected probes and inspection types, eliminating guesswork and reducing setup time to seconds.

With preconfigured setups, field crews can start inspections with minimal training knowing that parameters are already optimized for accuracy and compliance. This built-in intelligence ensures consistency across operators and shifts, enforces compliance, and dramatically reduces operator error.

Intuitive File Management

Easily preview, edit, overwrite, and delete files using the NORTEC 700’s File Manager menu. A file preview function makes it simple to browse through different files. Once a file is found, it can be recalled at your convenience. The onboard Text Editor makes it simple to edit file names, revise user and instrument information, and add notes while onsite.

Applications

Aerospace

Engineered to deliver exceptional performance for aerospace applications, the NORTEC 700 allows quick, easy surface, wheel, and bolt-hole inspections. The NORTEC 700 offers the signal quality, versatility, and confidence you need to meet every demand of critical aerospace inspection, from surface cracks to fasteners to layered structures.

Defense

Within the harshest conditions on earth, the NORTEC 700 is a mission-ready inspection tool built to keep up. From surface crack detection to bolt-hole and fastener inspection, the NORTEC 700 helps maintenance teams stay on top of aircraft, ground vehicles, naval vessels, and critical equipment through long shifts and remote deployments.

Industrial

The NORTEC 700 gives industrial inspection teams the signal quality, ruggedness, and flexibility to detect flaws accurately and efficiently, wherever the job takes them. The NORTEC 700 is ideally suited for weld inspection, heat exchanger and tube inspection, and surface and corrosion inspection across a wide range of industrial components and materials.

Surface/Subsurface Inspection (N700, N700D, N700i)

High-performance electronics and a vibrant display deliver outstanding signal quality for surface and subsurface inspections. All standard features for medium- to high-frequency inspection are included: impedance plane views, 10 × 10 grid, sweep (strip chart), multiple alarm configurations, and automatic lift-off. Added features include null point crosshairs, fine (expanded) and web grids, and automatic internal balance circuit (for BNC connector).

Bolt-Hole Inspection (N700D, N700i)

Simplified configuration and an improved filter system make the NORTEC 700 ideal for bolt-hole (rotary scanner) inspection. Filters are set by default to a “figure 6” response. The filters can also be set to the “figure 8” response as needed. For an even easier configuration, operators can activate the Link option, which automatically adjusts the filter settings according to the scanner’s speed settings.

Conductivity & Coating Thickness Measurement (N700, N700D, N700i)

The NORTEC 700’s conductivity mode features a straightforward calibration wizard including user-defined conductivity and coating thickness references. The NORTEC 700 can measure conductivity and non-conductive coating thicknesses of up to 0.64mm (0.025 in.) on non-ferromagnetic materials.

Critical Hole Inspection (N700D, N700i)

With the NORTEC 700, inspecting critical holes is simple and reliable. With support for most industry bolt-hole scanners, improved C-scan waterfall display, and layer cursor, the NORTEC 700 easily pinpoints the location of flaws in layered structures. In addition to these features, the N700i model includes layer detection, a defect viewer, and a C-scan view.

Dual-Frequency Inspection (N700D, N700i)

All-in-One Display
An all-in-one display features up to three configurable traces for frequency 1, frequency 2, and mixed channels. Each channel can be displayed as an impedance or strip chart, with independent display position controls.

Real-Time Readings
With the Real-Time Readings parameter, you can choose to display up to two real-time signal measurements in standard or full-screen modes. Displaying a variety of measurements reveals the various amplitude and angle (phase) characteristics of the signal.

  • Choice of three peak-to-peak amplitude measurements (horizontal, vertical, or magnitude)
  • Horizontal or vertical maximum distance from null point
  • Angle (phase) measurement of signal as peak-to-peak
